Public Data Reporting

Public data: retrieved, examined, and reported.

We dig into public data that belongs to everyone and then publish what we find back to the public.

Independent
We take no money from anyone named in a report. Read it as public service, not a pitch.
Primary sources
Pulled straight from the filings and datasets themselves, not someone else's summary of them.
Ongoing
New ones go up as dockets close and a dataset seems worth a closer look.

Data Reporting Requirements for Certain Event Contracts (RIN 3038-AF73)

Read every comment filed on Docket CFTC-2026-1453, the CFTC's plan to replace years of ad hoc no-action letters with a codified, futures-style reporting regime for event contracts. Nearly every DCM and FCM that filed backs the shift off swap reporting, but splits from the Commission over a duplicative customer-ID requirement — while a separate cluster argues the rule reports transactions without reporting the relationships behind them.

Prediction Markets; Public Interest Determinations

Read every comment filed on Docket CFTC-2026-1189, the CFTC's proposal to drop a 15-year ban on gaming-related event contracts in favor of a case-by-case public-interest review. Turns out 82.6% of the 1,383 comments belong to one of three organized campaigns. Strip those out, plus a 65-comment tribal sovereign bloc, and the independent voices left over split almost evenly, support versus opposition.
